The card, which had a guide price between £300 to £400, was brought by a buyer in London.
Mr Hanson said the "declaration of love" dates to about 1790.

Special Events and Trips
November 10 Living Memory Project
Update On Thursday 10th November members of Chaddesden WI visited Nottingham Road Cemetery to remember the six service women from WW1 and WW2 by laying tributes at their CWGC graves.
Chaddesden WI decided to discover more about the women after reading about the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) Living Memory Project in the July edition of the WI Life Magazine. The project encourages the British public to remember the forgotten front, the 300,000 war graves and memorials in Britain from both world wars during the centenary of the 141 days of the Battle of the Somme.
Janet Ireland, President of Chaddesden WI, said ‘When I saw the article about the Living Memory Project in the WI Life I knew it was something worthwhile we could get involved in. The Nottingham Road Cemetery is in our neighbourhood and we found that of the 328 war graves in the cemetery there are just 6 women and so we focused on those. We visited the local studies library in Derby, explored the records there and searched on line for more information. It has been interesting to find about the women who served in the Army Auxiliary Corps, the Auxiliary Territorial Service and the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. These women served and died young. ’
‘Whilst laying a tribute to each we remembered Pattie Hyde, Daisy Brown, Daphne Redgrave, Evelyn Dredge, Hilda Harrison and Olive Reynolds.’
Update February 2017. We were contacted by Olive, the niece of Olive Reynolds who thanked up for remembering her Aunt.

We were made very welcome and it is inspirational to see how the gardeners have used their space to create wonderful gardens. There is a surprise round every corner and 'Have you seen that?' was heard several times. Well worth a visit. Tea and cake is served too and there are plants to buy. Book a private visit for your group or go to the open days on the 9th and 10th July 2016. Contact Graham 01889 563930

Happy 40th Birthday
Chaddesden WI was formed in November 1973 and recently celebrated its 40th Birthday by having a party at the Jubilee Club in Chaddesden. Over 40 members and friends enjoyed a finger buffet and musical entertainment by Trev Andrews with his keyboard. We certainly danced the night away!

Trip to Ely 12th August 2013
Over 30 members, husbands, partners and friends joined the trip to Ely in Cambridgeshire. Ely is in the Fens, an area that was made up of many islands surrounded by boggy dangerous ground. This changed when the land was drained to become flat arable land. We could chose to visit the Cathedral (The Ship of the Fens) , Ely Museum, the Stained Glass Museum, take a walk by the River, learn about the local hero (or villain?) Oliver Cromwell or see the shops. Thanks to Janet Wood for organising the trip.

Members enjoy an excellent visit to Denman College
Janet, Jill, Michael, Carol and Barbara.
Barbara, Carol, Jill, Janet (and Michael) joined other members of the Derbyshire Federation for an overnight stay at Denman College sandwiched between visits to Blenheim and Bath.
At Blenheim we saw a Triathlon held in support of Leukemia and Lymphoma Research. Over 7,000 entrants took part. It was interesting and inspiring to watch as each athlete swam, cycled and ran the course. Apparently 1 hr 20 mins was a good time. We also had a tour of the house, walked in the gardens and visited the Butterfly House.
From Blenheim to Denman. The sun was shining so we were able to sit out and enjoy tea and cake on the terrace. The accommodation was comfortable; each room is named after a WI federation. After dinner we were entertained by James Mitchell with songs from the shows.
We left Denman after breakfast and made our way to Bath. Christine had organised a open top bus tour of the City. This was excellent and certainly gave us an insight into the history of the Spa with good views of the buildings. We then had free time to walk, have lunch and visit the Roman Baths and the Abbey.
It was nice to meet and have time with other local WI members. Our thanks to Christine Gardner who organised the weekend.
We recommend a visit to Denman. If you get the chance to go on an overnight stay like we did or to go as a group from your WI. Denman offers so many different breaks and activities. http://www.denman.org.uk/

To Denman House March 2012
'As many members know, Denman House is a Georgian Mansion bought
by the WI after WW2 for use as a residential teaching college for use by all its members and their guests.
We set out from Chaddesden on a lovely spring morning and we arrived in time for coffee and shortbread in the ‘library’. There followed a guided tour of the house where we gained a fascinating insight into life then and now.
The old servant’s quarters are now used as accommodation during courses and are beautifully furnished, but in the past, when they were used by the staff, they would have been very different.
We were also able to look at some of the more modern cottages with their en-suite rooms very tastefully decorated by each WI. The Derbyshire Room was particularly attractive with its Royal Crown Derby plates and coordinating quilt, cushions and curtains.
We were treated to a hot buffet lunch with a glass of wine or soft drinks followed by tea or coffee, before heading out into the grounds for a visit to the lake, then tea and scones mid-afternoon before heading home, tired but having had a very enjoyable and informative
day.
We are very grateful to Windy Ridge WI for sharing their day with us, and would
highly recommend a visit. I am now planning to book a place on one of the quilting courses as soon as I possibly can.'
